We are prioritizing our rest as a community on August 29th and 30th

For hundreds of years our ancestors were violently stripped of the self-care, sleep and peace they deserved in an effort to build a country that historically doesn't see our humanity.

Today not much has changed.

When Black women rest we are still labeled as lazy, unproductive and willfully insubordinate.  We are required to be "on" without regard for our wellbeing.  We are forced to be valuable to others through our unwavering labor. We are demanded to cheerfully support and give of ourselves no matter the severe cost to our bodies or mental health.

This is why a call to action for Black women to rest must happen immediately.  Join Brown Girl Self-Care and hundreds of women across the country as we hit the reset button, fill our self-care cups and honor our right to peacefully rest.
