I Will Not Run Myself Ragged. I Will NOT Run Myself Ragged.

I was scrolling on Insta a few days ago when a picture from HONY (Humans of NY) popped up.  In case you aren't familiar, HONY is a brand that documents the lives of folks in NY byway of photographs and interviews.  Sometimes they catch the life of a precocious 3 year old wearing the cutest outfit, or they sit down and chat with a young man that tells his story of survival on the streets.  It's a mix of fluff and realness that always manages to catch a vulnerable moment that is much needed on our feeds in this day and age. So, like I mentioned I was scrolling when one of their posts popped up on my feed.  I...

Why I Didn't Utter A Word For 24 Hours (Almost)

Yep, you read that right.  Recently I fasted from speaking for 24 hours, errr...well, I tried to anyway and lived to tell the tale.  Sidenote here - I have some shady friends LOL!!!!!  Look at what Danielle, my manifesting and blogging friend from OKDani.com, wrote on my FB status: Whatever, mayne!!! I can be quiet!   Ok, so I woke up yesterday morning and the thought just hit me to go for a whole 24 hours and not utter a single word.  Luckily my daughter was with her father this weekend so it was the perfect opportunity for me to really get quiet for longer than an hour here, six hours there.  I decided to start my speaking fast, vow of...

Tracee Ellis Ross Has a "Cool" Skin Care Hack

Tracee Ellis Ross is level-up goals when it comes to nurturing and loving herself.  There's no question that she is one of the undisputed queens of self-care!  If you follow her on Instagram you've likely seen at least one clip of her working out with her trainer, busting out squats, or even jammin' to Sia while doing Zumba.  On the other side of that you've also likely seen her gracefully and unabashedly enjoying time at a private pool, taking in the silence, sun and serenity.  Tracee knows what it means to take put her needs first and is an excellent role model for other black women to follow suit. Recently, my eyes perked up when i saw her getting a...

When You Release, You Show Up!

Raise your hand if you've ever put something on hold that you created, or talked yourself out of showing up in a space, because you were afraid of the "what if?"  The fear of being mocked, dismissed, trashed talked, not chosen or even told that what you offered up frankly sucked is enough to shut us all the way down.  Like.  All.  The.  Way.  Down. What happens when we don't show up?  Personally it makes it easier for me to put off the next thing, and then the next until I've all but disappeared into the shadows wondering how it even happened.  I know that it can be scary as hell to put your thing out there.  The chapter you wrote,...

30 Days of Self-Care: Day 9 - Take A Social Media Break

I don't have much to say today other than I didn't feel like being on social media.  I woke up in a whole ass funk mostly over Nipsey Hussle's funeral and decided I didn't want to see pictures and videos of him and his family splashed across the interwebs until I got home from work.  So I took a break away all day from Instagram and Facebook, etc. and didn't get back on until this evening when I was mentally and emotionally ready.  You see, one thing you may not know about me is that my (younger) brother was shot and killed in July of 2017 and Nipsey's death just brought up old feelings that I didn't want to dig...
